Change starts with you.

Taking the first step towards healing can feel overwhelming. When you are anxious, depressed or facing significant life challenges, making any decision can seem impossible.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is put one foot in front of the other. Reaching out to a therapist who can be an empathic and compassionate guide is your first step. Congratulations on getting here!

About Cindy

My first step into counselling began when I graduated with a degree in social work from York University in 1999. I started my career with positions in advocacy, child protection, and research and community engagement. I then completed an M.Ed. in Counselling and worked for 11 years as a crisis counsellor with the Ottawa Police Service.

The next step in my educational journey was completing a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Waterloo which included an 8-month internship with the Royal Ottawa Hospital’s Operational Stress Injuries Clinic. I provided support to members of the RCMP and Canadian Forces who were struggling with PTSD, operational stress, anxiety, and depression. I currently work with both individuals and couples, having completed additional training in Gottman Method Couples therapy.

My Approach

Therapeutic Approach

I use an eclectic range of techniques such as somatic experiencing (a body-oriented approach to trauma and stress), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), solution focused therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), alongside supportive psychotherapy.

Treatment Areas

Psychotherapy (sometimes called “talk therapy”) is a way to help individuals navigate transitions, face challenges and cope with major crises. I can also incorporate body-oriented techniques for resolving trauma. I work with individuals confronting Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, and more.

What To Expect

Just as no two therapists are alike, no two clients’ needs are the same. The approach I use with you will be individually tailored for your situation. We will take time to explore the kinds of issues you are facing before deciding on a therapeutic approach that will work best for you.

How It Works

We will begin your first appointment by exploring your current situation and challenges. You will complete an intake form detailing your history and present needs, and there will be time for you to ask questions about my approach and what you can expect from therapy.
